For the fourth year running, Altus successfully held their golf event at Bath Golf Club, and with match funding from the company raised a tremendous £11,200. The equipment will helps distract and relax children going through difficult medical procedures, which will have a big impact on their experience.
Jo Powell, lead play specialist said: “We really appreciate the generous donation from Altus. The funds will enable us to make a huge difference to the sensory facilities we are able to offer parents and families during their hospital stay.
The VR headsets are for young people to use during painful procedures, and as a preparation and distraction, and help reduce anxiety, along with having fun and enjoying their time in hospital.”
This is the fourth year Altus is supporting the ward, after a staff member’s daughter was born with a life-threatening heart condition and was cared for at the RUH. This latest donation brings the total raised by Altus so far to over £30,000. Two years ago, Altus was welcomed on board as a Corporate Partner for the charity.
Altus Consulting Director Martyn Evans said: "This year has been our biggest success yet, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our clients. We really enjoyed the day and are extremely pleased to be able to raise such a fantastic amount for the Children’s Ward.”
“We have been running these golf days for over ten years, with the last four becoming fundraisers. We had over 90 players this year, from a range of Altus Consulting clients, all donating money to play, as well as fundraising through the raffle and mulligans.”
Katie Burfitt, Partnerships Team Manager said: “We are delighted that Altus chose to support the hospital through their golf day for the fourth year running and we are extremely grateful for their continued support, particularly for our younger patients and their families. The new equipment will make their experience in hospital so much more positive.
