Jon brings over 18 years of experience in Financial Services, working with senior executives to address complex business, operational and technology challenges, shaping strategy and driving programme delivery execution.
What was your background before joining Altus Consulting?
Principally in Financial Services, the bulk of my career has been spent in the Banking industry both retail and commercial. I spent the early part of my career cutting my teeth on core consulting project delivery across an array of industries including health, retail, defence, and consumer goods. Subsequently having moved into a big 4 consultancy I proceeded to focus purely on the banking industry. After a brief move in-house at a global banking institution, I moved to a boutique financial services consultancy, spending time working both in the UK and Toronto with a big focus on industry innovation and disruption.
What attracted you to Altus Consulting?
From my initial interactions with Altus, I gathered a picture of a closely-knit, well-rounded, and highly experienced team, infused with a robust entrepreneurial spirit and a passion to accelerate their growth. All of this whilst staying firmly committed to maintaining their core ethical values of what a Consulting service should be delivering to their clients, which really resonated with me.
Tell us a bit about your team.
Programme Delivery is the team that “make things happen” at Altus. It’s the team that roll-up their sleeves and turn concepts and ideas into delivery plans, actions and controls. The PD team is a melting pot of Delivery Consultants, Operational SMEs and ex-contractors, which means collective problem solving is lively, eye-opening and innovative.
What do you do in your role?
I actively manage a portfolio of client delivery assignments, interrogating our deliveries, and assuring our output. I listen to clients, understand their challenges, join the dots, and then proactively design and lead short/sharp change or assurance efforts to not only alleviating client pain, but to enhance their future delivery capabilities. Bringing these elements together, my passion project is developing our propriety Altus APEX service offering as part of our Intelligent Change Management Platform, which will overcome the historical stumbling blocks seen on large change engagements.
What do you enjoy about working here?
No day is EVER the same, and I’m regularly pushed outside of my comfort zone which I need to keep me interested and focused. There’s ample room and support for creativity, crafting proposals, and seizing opportunities.
How has your role changed since being here?
Altus’ growth story means all roles here must evolve to continually balance both client and internal priorities. This is natural and healthy, but also means you have the opportunity to proactively take charge of your own destination based on your skillset and interests.
What has made you stay?
Altus is already a success story; its influence and reputation are on the ascendent. New opportunities are constantly emerging to shape and expand the business, contributing to its success. What keeps me here is the chance to be a pivotal contributor to this journey, collaborating with like-minded individuals who share the same vision.
