Having started as a Junior IT technician and gaining over 11 years of experience, Sundeep is now part of the Altus Aspire Programme with the ultimate goal in becoming a Consultant.

What was your background before joining Altus consulting?

After completing a master’s degree in information systems management, I began my IT career as a Junior IT technician in 2013 at a printing company on Great Portland Street, where I worked for just over a year. Since then, I have worked at DXC Technology (formerly CSC), Bupa, and Leidos. Throughout my career, I have consistently handled highly sensitive data on various systems and platforms such as SQL, CRM Dynamics, and Salesforce. My ultimate goal was to transition into Consultancy, so I focused on gaining experience and building a strong foundation. When there was an opportunity to join Altus on the Aspire Programme, I felt it was the right time to make the move.

What attracted you to Altus Consulting?

From what I was reading about the company, it is growing and the opportunity given to me was to be part of the Aspire Programme where I was given a chance to develop my skills and gain further experience on projects and client work. This got me very excited and it was an opportunity which I simply could not refuse. In addition, everyone that interviewed me were very warm and the conversations we had were excellent and now I am part of the team.

Tell us a bit about your team

Our team is incredibly supportive. We always make time for each other and offer help whenever we can. For instance, we have an optional morning session where anyone can discuss what they are working on to get opinions or simply not talk about work at all. I remember when I first started, I mentioned a particular iconic 90’s film and we ended up talking about that film for 10 minutes!

What do you do in your role?

I work as a Consulting Analyst in the Digital team. My role varies on a weekly basis; one week, I might be working on an internal project while also taking a training course, and the next week, I could be fully engaged in client work. As part of the Aspire Programme, I also participate in a rotation program that allows me to get to know colleagues from other teams and potentially collaborate with them. Every week is different, which makes this role really interesting.

What do you enjoy about working here?

As mentioned above, the variety of work always keeps me engaged, allowing me to consistently develop while contributing. There is a supportive environment throughout the organisation, regardless of personality or experience and since I joined, everyone has been incredibly supportive.

How has your role changed since being here?

I have been at Altus for just over a year now, and during this time, I have taken on more client work, including projects with completely new clients, while also being involved in more internal work. Although my Aspire Programme hasn’t finished yet, I feel that I have gained a significant amount of knowledge and built a strong foundation, which will be accelerated this year, allowing me to approach engagements with tons of confidence.

What has made you stay?

There are continuous opportunities that help my development, and as the organisation grows, I feel I can contribute to that growth now and in the future. Additionally, the people have been incredibly helpful since I joined the organisation. I have really enjoyed working with them, and I hope to be as supportive to everyone while growing as a team and organisation.
